Hardcore Computer Announces General Availability of LSS 200 - The Worlds First and Only Blade Server with Total Liquid Submersion Technology

ROCHESTER, MN (November 14, 2010) Hardcore Computer, Inc. is pleased to announce general availability of the world’s first Liquid Submerged Server (LSS 200). LSS 200 will be showcased and available for purchase at SC10 Supercomputer Conference in New Orleans.

LSS 200 was first introduced as a proof of concept in April 2010 where it received the prestigious “Best Datacenter Innovation” award at the Blade Insights Summit in Orlando, FL. LSS 200 represents a breakthrough technological achievement delivering a systematic approach to solving many of the most complex and costly challenges plaguing datacenters today – escalating utility costs, the high cost of operating and maintaining sophisticated cooling and environmental control systems and the ever-increasing demand for floor space.

LSS 200 employs Hardcore Computer’s patented total liquid submersion cooling technology and is the first and only product of its kind in the industry. According to an independent study, LSS 200 can deliver up to an 80% reduction in data center cooling costs and reduces construction and on-going operating costs by up to 25%. LSS 200 is designed to operate in almost any environment and doesn’t require costly, sophisticated environmental control systems.

LSS 200 supports today’s highest performing video cards making it the ideal choice for datacenters requiring computational power and advanced video rendering capabilities, such as medical imaging, digital content render farms, computer-aided design, engineering simulation and modeling and distributed network gaming. LSS 200 offers a wide menu of integrated high-speed communication options- from 1 and 10 Gb/s Ethernet to InfiniBand® with speeds up to 40 Gb/s.

LSS 200 has been beta tested by Platform Lab, which was founded by Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and TechColumbus in 2002 and operates as America's only non-profit IT test and training facility.

“The team at Platform Lab is well aware of the power challenges that face hundreds of existing datacenters and expect total liquid submersion-cooled blade servers and the subsequent iterations of this technology to be leading a significant drive into driving down the power consumption in datacenters,” said Steve Gruetter, Director, Platform Lab. “With significant market penetration, we can see datacenters being retro-fitted to bring in greater computing power with total liquid submersion-cooled blade server systems tied into the building infrastructure. This technology is truly a part of the green technology transformation – the ability to lower a carbon footprint and save significantly in power/cooling costs.”

“Innovation is the backbone of the blade and datacenter marketplace. Our total liquid submersion technology is truly innovative and it delivers superior cooling efficiency,” said Al Berning, CEO, Hardcore Computer. “Because our LSS 200 technology mitigates heat more efficiently, we can offer a smaller physical and carbon footprint for the datacenter and minimize air conditioning and air moving equipment.”

SC10, which will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana from November 13–19, 2010, is an international conference that spotlights the most original and fascinating scientific and technical applications from around the world. The renowned event will feature the latest breakthroughs in high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis.

Hardcore Computer will exhibit and demonstrate its Liquid Submerged Server (LSS 200) at Booth #4439. Company representatives will be on hand to speak with new customers and potential channel partners.
